I'd guess you broke your pressure plate, clutch disc, or throw out bearing. Probably time for a clutch job.

Now that I reread you post for the 5th time, maybe you didn't torque the pressure plate down and its contacting the inside of the bellhousing.

ok i found out that it isnt my clutch, i think its my driveshaft. the right tire is spinning and the left one is just not as fast and thats the one knocking. i made sure thats its all in and stuff but could it be from the tranny fluid being low?

ok, after tinkering around with it i found out that i can only shift it into gear when its up on the lift, and it will only start while on the lift. when its on the ground it will only start in neutral and it wont go into gear. when its on the ground and off i can put it into gear but i cant take it out and when its in gear it will jump forward a bit when i try to start it and it wont start

sounds like you blew the pressure plate since it wont go into gear with the car on
but it will with the car off

How did the TOB and pressure plate finger's look?
Did you put the clutch disc in backwards?
Did you use loc tite on the pressure plate bolts and torque them in 2 steps (18ftlbs, 24 ftlbs).

i wasnt the one who checked the clutch and stuff. i looked it up in my book and i think it is the pressure plate. i know i didnt put anything in backwards and i wasnt there when we put the clutch in but i doubt that they torqued them in 2 steps or used loc tite on them.

that knocking could be the CV axle not fully seated into the diff....... but as u say its the drivers side? I think that is a little more skeptical

I blew the bolts off on my right side intermediate shaft bearing and the axle popped out and made noises like you describe..... it was the first time I drove it with the 3.2 and it was wet out, I was lighting them up in 2nd and thought I popped the diff!

i forgot to fully tighten the bolts and when I put it back on the lift they were gone! man I was so glad thats all it was

if your not getting into gear that sounds like a clutch problem

start your car on the lift, with it already in gear, and the clutch pedal to the floor, if it runs do the tires move like this?

to adjust your clutch pedal, ram it down to the floor a few times and then grab the backside of the pedal with your toe and pull it up as hard as you can..... u might hear a little noise when this happens, if so u done good....... recheck the clutch now

u usually have to loosen the clutch cable to get it installed on the trans

ok well i just went out and tried that, the clutch clicked when i pulled it up. i went to start it and now it wont start, its making a weird noise and the dinging sound when u open the door isnt working and the lights are way dim. i went to start it and nothing happened so i tried jumping it and the fan went on but it was making a horrible noise and it still wont start.

ok i was stupid, the battery died so i let it charge for a bit and it started right up. i recognized that noise from when i went through 3 altinators when i first bought the car. anyways i think its the clutch because when its on the lift and the clutch is in i started it and the right tire was spinning very fast like as if the clutch was engaged. i tried to adjust the cable again but it didnt work.

you could have a possible cable problem, but that doesn't seem right if you heard it ratchet and pull tighter,

so let me get this straight

with the car up in the air, and leave it in first gear, then put your foot all the way down on the clutch pedal, and start the car, and the tire is already spinning? just like that with the clutch all the way down?

that sounds like it could be a hung up TOB(like your pushing down on in but its not moving all the way), stuck clutch disc(yes they can get stuck to the flywheel from time to time, I've seen it before)

if your dead set on replacing the cable, give that a try, with readjusting it, if you still have nothing, well you could manually pry on where the clutch cable connects to the transmission, there is a lever there, and a big pry bar can move it, just like u press on the pedal, see if it moves more with the prybar then the cable, and see if that fully disengages the clutch and you can start it up in the air without a tire spinning, then it could be a cable part, easier fix..... if not I'd say your into the clutch assembly again

It seems to me that something is very wrong, and that driving the car (or continuing to fool with it) will not make it better. I would suggest that you disassemble everything that was taken apart, inspect, then reassemble according to the factory manual.

I hope you find that something was just installed incorrectly, and nothing is broken or *****.

Yes with the car in the air and in first with the clutch all the way down i start it and the wheel starts spinning. when i hit the brakes the car stalled even with the clutch in. im going to start to rip it apart again today.

this is similar to the problem to why I replaced the tranny in the first place. i was driving my car and it was getting increasingly harder to shift it into gear. When i went at a green light it popped itself out of first and even with the clutch in i couldnt get first to engage, it just kept grinding. It wouldnt get out of first either, even when the car is off. it was stuck in first but not engaged in first.

this is like whats happening now, its going into first when its off and on the ground but even when its off i cant take it out of first unless its up on the lift, and when its on the ground and i start it, it jumps forward, starts and i cant take it out of gear or put it into gear.

i had an issue similar to this with a clutch. one of the springs in the clutch disk broke in half and got wedged to the bolts on the flywheel making it so i really couldnt shift or start the car at times, and same thing when starting the car with the clutch held all the way down the car would move. theres my two cents
