So I somehow managed to successfully do the atx to mtx swap in my '93 but I cannot for the life of me get this (I won't swear...) clutch cable to hook onto the quadrant. I've removed the clutch pedal assembly and looked at everything, even hooked the cable into it, and all was well. Left it hooked up, bolted the assembly back in, attached other end of cable to the transmission, pedal is slop...nothing there. Does any one have some detailed directions on how to hook this thing up? I've seriously spent 3+ hours trying to get this thing to work.

When I did the swap I hooked the end of the cable at the end of the quadrant....past any of the adjustments on the quadrant. I could drive the car, I just had to wait until to top of the pedal travel for the clutch to engage. Thought I'd simply go in and reinstall the cable so the clutch could engage in the normal position...now I'm here and I'm ******.

I just replaced my clutch cable last week, here is what I can offer:

you got the end on the quadrant and the end on the transmission but there is still alot of slop in it. Couple of things:

1: Is the motor in the same place? With it mounted differently, you could have lost some space and the cable is just too long.

2: Did you put that 3/4 inch thick plastic/rubber piece back on the tranny side? It looks like a spacer that the cable casing presses up against. Mine popped out when I took the cable out and I didnt notice right away.

3: you can mannually tighten up the cable by pulling up the clutch pedal, but if that doesnt work, you can push the quadrant arm up with a screwdriver.

Here's a little pic...I had originally hooked the end of the cable to where the red circle is on the quadrant. I could drive the car fine, just didn't like where the clutch was engaging. I also tried to pull up on the pedal to adjust it but got nothing. Was I on the right track here??? Should I put the cable back on the end, then push the quadrant by hand to adjust it?

F22- the motor is in the same place as any other mtx SHO, this shoudn't be an issue. I'm pretty sure the spacer piece is there...I will double check when I go back out there. Thanks for your help!

SInce I'm not good at putting red circles on nice pictures, heres what you can do:

Your cable was in the right spot, the end slips over the top of the quadrant and into that notch. To tighten usually pulling up on the pedal will tension it up. I have yet to own a sho that does that though. I do mine mannually by using a screwdriver. That quadrant needs to rotate clockwise to tighten up. On the under side of your picture, the other end of the quadrant (left of where your circle is), you will see the bottom end of the quadrant there is a blue plastic arm. Push upward on that arm to make the quadrant rotate a click or two clockwise. See if that helps.
