Clutch and flywheel size

I was wondering, is it possible to find out if my clutch has been replaced with the new style. another words, without pulling the MTX out, is there a way of finding out if it has the new bigger style instead of the original tiny one? It's a 90 and has 126,000 miles and i'm pretty sure it's been changed since new but I was wanting to make sure.

Oh, by the way, the clutch pedal is kinda stiff. At least stiffer than the full size chevy I have. Is there a way to soften that thing up a bit?

You are looking at 99% probability that you have a 9.75" clutch assembly. Ford offered the upgrade for free in the early 90's as the old clutches lasted in some cases as little as 5,000 miles.

To verify, remove your starter and look into the opening. The 9.25" clutch assembly will have a 1/2" of flywheel showing from the edge of the pressure plate.

A stiff pedal is most likely a worn throw-out bearing or a dissapearing quill sleeve.

Well, i'm planning on changing the whole clutch system and all....clutch, preasure plate,flywheel (lightened of course), TO bearing, and any wearable parts that even come close to being questionable. I beleave in doing it right the first time and won't have to touch it again for a long while.

While you're in there check the finger on the TOB fork. Mine were worn a bit uneven. Nothing a file cant fix.
