I'm curious how many of you have experienced a clunky noise in the front end of your SHO - it seems to sometimes be frequent, and others not as much. It happens mainly while cruising.

A quick look at the TSB's indicate:

97-2-3 Subframe Clunk, rear revised SFB's
97-2-5 Suspension Clunk, early wear of sway bar links

Is there an easy way to identify whether I may have either of the suspect parts, which may be causing this problem? I am starting to suspect the sway bar links...

Also, despite the fact that this is annoying, will it cause any other premature wear or failure, such as on the tires? I really dislike doing work in this nasty weather if I don't have to...:rainshit:

Mine use to. It was the front control arm bushing bolt and nut needing extreme tightening.

If it rattles often, could be your sway bar end links. I replaced mine with some moogs a while ago and that helped a lot. Still have some excess noise when going over patches in the road and such, but the ball joint boots are also torn on both sides, so that is likely my cause.
Best thing to do is get under and take a glance at everything. If the boot is demolished on the end link, that's what I'd put my money on.

Strut mounts? I had a bad clunk from the rear when a friend (300lb Husker Shot Putter) would sit in the car. My rear strut mounts were shot and having those replaced took out all my clunks until last month.

Just had some more work done, but haven't had the car back since Thanksgiving. My parents have been storing it while I drive their car.
