when ever i brake and come to a stop , there are a few quick clunking/popping noises under the car, sounds like its right under the floor boards. then when i take of the clunking does it again. Pretty much its like whenever the weight changes directions in the car, it clunks. I did some searches and didnt find much of anything. could it be a SFB? or a end link? let me know, tia!

No, it is not endlinks. You are displaying symptoms of worn out subframe bushings. You should upgrade to either Gen III bushings or 'Cup' style Aluminum ones.

I personally experienced those exact symptoms from worn end links, so I stand by my post. I will agree with you, SFB's could also be the cause.

I also, experienced the exact same symptoms when my stock SFB's went to crap. When my endlinks went out, I noticed more of an issue over bumps and such, ie: as the suspension traveled and moved. The SFB movement that he is describing involves more of the weight of the car shifting from stopping/starting and the such which would involve more of a subframe issue. Well, of course it is easy to diagnose something in writing as we can read into it however we want...and interpret it how we want. Shoot, he might have worn SFB's and worn endlinks (acually a high possibility). So, I stand by my post and also agree with you :corn:. So, mosho93, looks like the ball is in your court...lol. We have given you a couple possibilities you need to investigate each and see what you find (most likely both could use replacement).

This is a dumb question but where can I buy aluminum subframe bushings? I've been on Midwest SHO's website and they weren't listed on the suspension section.

No, it is not dumb. You can get them at shonutperformace, their are also a few members here on the forum who sell them, Bryan C. King, and Netviper.

I have experienced this as well, it was the endlinks. I replaced them with the METAL ones made my MOOG that are greaseable, have been fine ever since.

Tastes Great! Less Filling!

I think it's probably both. I would start with SFBs, and then go onto the end links.

FWIW, don't get the plastic SHO links. Get either the Moogs, or the aluminum endlinks from the Windstar minivan. They fit the V6 SHOs perfectly.

I second that advise on the plastic endlinks, especially if you buy them from AutoZone.

I've gone through two sets, each lasting just over a year. They only have a three month warranty, so I had to buy them each time.

I just installed the Moogs last week, so my front end is quiet going over the potholes again.

Ok, I think I've been having the same problem as you and I think I can help, or at least give you some advice on what I've done with mine. I replaced my totally destroyed SFBs with some of Bryan C. King's cup-style AL SFBs, Moog TPR greasable endlinks, and brand new SHOnut reinforced front and rear motor mounts. After doing all of these things, some of the clunking went away, but it's still there and now I'm being told that it's my halfshafts that are gone so I'm going to be replacing them this weekend. After doing that, the only thing left that could be clunking under my car is the front swaybar bushings, but those are cheap anyways. I would say that it may be all of the things that have been suggested to you, or it may just be your halfshafts; who knows? Good luck!!

sunny San Juan Bautista,
I regret not one bit taking the shotgun approach to my entire suspension, front and rear, last summer. Every visible item had obvious signs of wear and not unreasonably did I suspect "beyond the service lifetime wear" on the hidden components. The mileage was well beyond what anyone should expect stock parts to last. IMHO, just about the only way to guarantee a new-car-like ride. Installing NEW tires at the same time helps too. It's an expensive upfront cost but I don't have to play these mickeymouse games trying to figure out any one single culprit. Plus all the parts can wear in smoothly together oh for at least another 100,000 miles. :****: :burn_out:

Dah!

I have the same exact clunking noise. I have GOOD endlinks, brand-new ball joints, shocks, and struts, and the tie-rods seem okay. I have greased EVERYTHING.

...But my subframe was moving whever I jacked-up the car and the car was bucking slightly from a stop. And there was only a slight clunking with the stock SFBs. So naturally, I put new ones on the tighten up the subframe. I opted for AL SFBs.

I just put on my AL SFBs, and the clunk is now so loud on the driver's side that passengers get scared and you can hear it over a blasting radio whenever the car shifts weight. The car handles a lot better and the bucking is gone, but now it feels like I have trouble getting power to the ground and the clunking is awful. The rest of the supension seems to groan a whole lot more now as well, especially from a stop. What the **** is going on!?!?! :madflame:

Also, why is it that I have to tighten the Subframe bolts for the bushings every 2 days now!?!? I just put them on 2 weeks ago!

This is driving me nuts!! There has to be some kind of issue besides the SFBs!!! Are the floor pans actually bowing and popping???

DAAAAH!!!! I am so frustrated. The damn car is jacked up every day now and I can't find what's wrong! Even after I tighten the SFB bolts, it STILL clunks!!!.
