On my white 91 I just had the front suspenion maintain'd/upgraded. Here wat was done.

installed koni/eibachs @ 153k (used)
New strut mounts all around.
LF wheel bearing/ @ 153k and RF 5-7k ago
Front/Rear strut rod bushings (TPR) @ 153k
Outer Tie rod ends @ 153k
L+R lower control arms
F+R s/b end links

I still have this clunking noise. It definalty sounds like metal on metal contact. Its only when I turn sharp and quickly. Also when accerlating and turning (like in an intersection) Is this classic strut rod problem?? Do I need that repair kit? I also had the alignment done to and it does NOT do it as much but its still there. Does that makes sense? I will probably deal with it till spring but I just wanna see what u guys think. Its the only thing I can think of.

EDIT* For people who search. The symptons above are bad SFB. Sloopy response, grinding noises, and in extreme case will actually bind the steering for a sec when turning.

Their not there!!!!!!

Nah the SFB are old and I am replacing them. They did not seem really bad. But it very well could be it. It has to be them or the strut rods. SFB and MM are next . I do have a set of ALSFB laying around too. we will see soon enough. Man after this the car will be fun to drive again!!!!!

Man I get another SHO (DD) and I mod it just as much the other one  lol

How old/many miles on the struts?

The struts had around 65-70k miles on them. It is not the struts. I know this because I had the same noise before all this work done. Plus the struts themselve ride good, The rebound is very good.

This sound is loud and can be felt by ur feet. It def. metal on metal. Another sympton I've noticed is sometimes the steering wheel will bind or get "stuck" for a split second (not stuck but very relactant) Usually a sign of bad strut monut bearings but they are new. This happened a couple times when turned hard. I hope it the SFB but Im thinking strut rods :(

Well I installed some ALSFB and solid MM on sunday.

The SFB omg were they BAD. The SF must have been sitting directly on metal. and my MM were totally separated. I am glad to say this car is SO much fun to drive. Tight steering response and the ride is perfect. Plus as a bonus the car has a new sound from the inside, I can now hear and feel the engine. The car is 100% now and should be a reliable DD for a long time. another 20-25k and it will be time for a 60k.
