94 3.0 MTX..After putting my car into reverse which isnt a problem. When I start to back up, just when i start to move I hear this small clunk noise. What do you think this is.Tranny mount??? My suspension really sucks and i need to replace it but i dont think it has to do with that.????

Could be the rear motor mount. Open the hood, set the e-brake, give it a little gas and let the clutch out (a little) in first, and then reverse, and see if the motor is lifting. If so, you have a bad motor mount.

May also want to check the sway bear links in the rear. My 95 SE had a broken one on the passenger side, and when I would backup it would make a clunkiung sound that made me thing that the sebframe in the front had dropped. What happens with the link breaks is the sway bar will hit whatever is left of the link depending on where it broke off at. Mine broke off at the top of the link.

They are really easy to check, lay on the ground and look by the wheels in the rear of the car from the back bumper. You'll see the links hanging down attached to the sway bar. there should be some busings with nuts on top and bottom.

If they are the stock ones they have a good chance of breaking, especially if they have rusted at all. My next set will be powder coated when I add my TPR endlinks.

I agree w/ Dave, I had this exact experience and it was my rear motor mount, the thing was completely ripped! If this is your case replace it fast before it damages the tranny mount, I was lucky and just had to replace both the front and rear mounts w/ SHONutperformance's reinforced motormounts. I never have a problem finding a gear now, and the whole engine seems so much tighter in conjunction w/ the driveline/wheels.

Most likely the rear motor mount. Thankfully, even the OEM Ford mount has a reinforcement bar to prevent a flyaway engine in reverse. Backing a boat trailer up a driveway really put the stress on my old rear motor mount.

How much time and money to replace the rear motor mount. I have the reinforced front one right now. How do you know if its the tranny or rear? I'm having trouble shifting at high revs now too.I can't win...
