I have a 1999 SHO that needs a replacement Clock Spring so that I can have a working horn for inspection. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement Clock Spring? Anyone have a parts car or knows of a junk yard I can call? Or even a new one but it appears you can't buy them new anymore.

Can anyone help?

Not the most elegant solution, you can bypass the clockspring and install a push button on the dash. Connect across VT/OG and BK.

Junk yards have these by the dozens. If you have one locally to you. They would be the same on any Taurus 96-99, possibly others.

I would rather have someone remove the clock spring for me and send it to me. I'll pay for the part and any labor needed. I don't think I want to try to tackle removing a clock spring in a junk yard with my very basic knowledge.

Well I strongly suggest joining and asking for this part in one or both of these facebook groups. More people hang out there than here these days for better or worse.... (looks like you already did)

It is very starighforward process. some small screws/bolts to remove the airbag from the wheel assembly and maybe one central nut or bolt holding the clock spring to the wheel/steering column. There should be instructions on here somewhere. The older cars' clock springs were part manufacture location specific for replacement. I'm not 100% if that is an issue with the GenIII clock spring

If push comes to shove then I'll see if I can locate some Taurus somewhere near me and give it a go. If not, then not sure what I'll do with the car. It's the car my daughter drives so I'm sure she would love something different if we have to junk it. Shame.

Make sure all of these are interchangeable before you start going through a bunch of used vehicles. There is aV8SHO mailing list that may go through Google groups?? Been a while. Go to v8sho.com and look for links to the group and peruse the items/articles there to see if any good info is archived there.
