Clicking noises, only under load

I'm getting some pretty loud clicking noises from what seems like the passenger side of the engine bay. Here are my observations:

1. Not noticable until the engine gets over 2000 RPMs.
2. It is only audible under load, with the pedal pressed down.
3. The sound goes away the moment the throttle is released, irrespective of engine RPM.
4. No sound rolling in neutral at 40+ mph.
5. Not noticeable goosing the engine while not moving, in neutral.

That's a good thought. I guess it could also be a timing chain or tensioner issue as well, especially since neither of those latter two are new. I guess I won't be taking the car to work today!

Well...step one is jacking and supporting the car I'd guess.

Before doing anything else, I'd be looking around underneath to see if there was anything obvious..like CV grease sprayed all over.

So yeah. Eventhough...

I think the vacuum canister that supplies vacuum to the secondary butterflies is bad, so when the engine is under load and the secondaries are supposed to be closed, they are chattering because there is not enough vacuum to hold them closed. no load, plenty of vacuum to hold them closed. at higher rpms they open and don't chatter. I would start by looking for vacuum issues at the secondaries.
