Well my LED kit showed up at lunch, got a chance to peek at it before heading back into work. Wow, things have changed A LOT since I was a kid doing these before. They used to be just tubes with some ****** hanging brackets, these new ones are led strips with HD 3m double faced tape. I'll grab a few adhesive promoters from work before I put them on but these actually look very high quality for only $40. (which is shocking) Going to try and install them next week when I get back from my trip since I have mon-weds off. I also got new nozzles for the sprayer kit that I need to add on, a guy I work with did a garden hydro misting kit on his dragster and said he had great results with the set up. I'll post some pics once everything is done!

I was going to recommend the opt7 kit with rigid led bars. My car is "full stick-on", but I don't trust adhesive on the underbody.

That's how I kinda felt too, gonna degrease it and use those prep pads/promoter, those make even garbage glue hold like cement. I may even try to do a few tiny zip ties for insurance.

Nicely done. Especially for DIY.

Great job. applause

To be honest, I had to lengthen the power cable which was no big deal, but I also had to cut and lengthen one of the bar light cables also. To my surprise it had 4 wires in it what a pain in the ass to rewire. But in any case, those weren't too much on an issue but I am ashamed of how i ran the passenger side cable, but I ran out of additional wire so i had to run that one a little sketchy. I plan on going back to add some length and run it another way, but for now, I did what I could!

Yeah, only advise, mount the bluetooth box in the rear and extend the power cable with some extra wire. It will be so much easier that mounting it in the front. There are so much better hiding spots for the wiring in the rear to make it look a little more seamless. At least with this kit.

Everyone has there personal taste. My brother (retired copper) had a decked out 300C with the old style neon under glow and led's on the wiper nozzles and loved it. Now he's got a new Lexus LC500 and he's absolutely dying inside because he said there's virtually nothing you can do to it mechanically.....but almost every time I see him he talks about doing a under glow on it. It's just a matter of time. Still a kid at heart at 71.

I remember those old neon tubes.

Had them on my old Pontiac Fiero Formula GT.

Damn things were so fragile and were constantly breaking. Never were great for daily driver use, that's for sure.

Still they were cool though and ahead of their time.

Was just talking to my buddy about those tube style ones. I had a set from the "carsponsership.com" thing. They looked great for about 2 weeks. The brackets started all breaking and then the tubes started dragging. ******* nightmare, showing up to a meet like that just about killed me.

Completely agreed.

Seemed they broke exactly at, or right damn near, those mounting points/brackets.

Luckily I worked for a sign shop back in the day, and one of our sub-contractors was a vendor who dealt with neon signage exclusively.

Was nice having a local hookup, in order to be able to swap out the broken one's, for new replacements. But it was still pricey.

Then the neon's were replaced with the cold cathodes. Smaller and a lil sturdier, but the transformers seemed problematic.

Nice having LED's now, and high quality ones at that. Certainly has brought an entirely new level to lighting.
