Looks pretty good to me.

Only thing I'd add is that chrome wheels take a **** of a beating from road salt, and I'd suspect wheels that weren't chromed from the factory might be more susceptible to damage. I'd want another set of winter wheels/tires.

I have the Permachrome on my car and love them. I do use winter wheels though, but more for the tire in which I run Spec-X tires for winter. My stock Permachrome's run F1 for now, but will be changing to Nitto Invo's when needed.

The permachrome does look darker than the bright chrome process and they do offer a black permachrome as well.

What do you guys think of the Kona Blue taurus here:

http://www.permachrome.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16&Itemid=50

I'm thinking of doing the stock 20's when I swap out for the winter rims/tires later this year. I was going to have these powdercoated gunmetal, but I think the chrome looks good.

Have any of you guys done this?

I have these on my car and they aren't chrome, they are PVD, with a clear coat over the vapor deposition. They are very weather durable and look great in the daylight. One thing you'll notice is that they look a lot LESS chrome in the dark. They look more like black chrome at night. I like them, but I was a little disappointed that they don't look as bright at night as the stock wheels. After a little getting used to the different look though I wouldn't go back. They look really awesome in the daylight and lets face it....that's when we're looking at them the most!!

Oh, and I noticed you're in SE Michigan as am I. If you really want to see them on the car and check them out, I'll meet up with you if you like.

Here's a thread when I first put them on with pics. I wasn't sure at first......but I wouldn't go back now.....

Thanks for the feedback. I have 2 sets of the stock 20's (got a second set of rims with sensors for a real good price from MVP wheels) with Pirelli snow tires. I have the PP, so the other set of 20's have the F1's. I'd be doing this to the summer set of rims.

TRBOSHO - if I get close to pulling the trigger, I'll send you a PM. They do look good though. Thanks.

i don't understand why you guys want to keep the stock 20's

upgrading to 22's will result in cheaper better rubber

I kept the stock 20's because they look good, I already had (between the sets of snow and summer tires) probably $2600 worth of tires in that size, and all of the aftermarket rims I saw looked ricey or boy-racer. 22's will reduce ride quality and increase noise, plus I'd have 8 tires that were the stock size and I'd have to buy a third set for the larger rims.

On a $45k car, I'm not worried about buying cheaper rubber.

I really like the look, just wondering how expensive is it to have the wheels perachromed. Also I think the black chrome look would look great on a black or white car...Zeus and bpd are you listening?

It's between $800 & $1000 exchange. They have a sort of black chrome look at night. My car is Platinum White...I like the look.

There's also a $200 shipping charge. I like the look but I find it a little expensive.

We're in their back yard. We can just pick them up without the shipping....In fact they'll switch them over for $100......but we do have to pay the tax.....

Our sales manager just took his black 2011 over to PermaChrome today and had them swap out his factory 20's. They look really nice. I just picked up my white platinum 2011 yesterday but for me I prefer aluminum to chrome on sporty cars.

I like my stock wheels just the way they are for now.
Again, I think Ford did a phenominal job with the OEM 20" wheels, so it's not terribly motivating for me to change 'em out.

Understand completely, I really like the stock wheels too, but I really like the shiny look of the Permachrome, although instead of having them shipped, I think I would consider a short trip to Michigan and have them swap out the wheels. I think it would be a nice little break for a vacation, may have a chance to meet some other SHO members and maybe even a trip north of the border to get together with Showgun and Zeus. Of course, it will have to wait until the end of summer, since the good weather has finally arrived in Pennsylvania, I'm pretty busy with scuba training....we like to get our new divers in the water and finished training while the water conditions are good and they can have a really nice open water experience.

Yes I'm listening! Arrgh! Why did you bring this up? When I first got the SHO I was seriously considering having the wheels done in black chrome but then I thought that it would be too black and like bpd1151, I really do like the stock wheels as they are. Well now with my other changes including the mobsteel grill, and now this suggestion, I'm once again considering doing this to my wheels. :nut:

Can anyone with photoshop do a black chrome to my wheels in this picture? I think that I need to visualize it first. I've lost all of my photo editing software during the recent move. :frown:
I've seen other black SHO's and regular taurus' with black wheels but never the stock 20's in black. I would be most grateful to anyone with a good photo editing program who can show me what it would look like? :hail:

Andrew, you should talk with the Permachrome guys, maybe they could do all the shine trim in black chrome, I think it would look AWESOME! I really like the stock wheels, better then any aftermarket that I've seen so far, but I really think the Permachrome improves the look. Heck, it's only money and there is no better way to spend it then improving your ride! LOL (Or repairing the damage from some vandal:banghd:)
