From left to right - Stock, vinyl wrap, police grille with mesh insert. I liked the vinyl wrap but it started to peel off after only a few months on the corners. I also wasn't a huge fan of the blacked out oval so I finally went all in with the Police/mesh.

So you sprayed the trim while still on the car? Did you sand the chrome off first?

I just did my tail lights (because the chrome was peeling) but I'm afraid to take the window trim off and afraid I'd get overspray on the car if I didn't take it off.

First of all, none of this trim stuff is chrome, it's plastic crap that peels over time. My "chrome" problem is going away on its own by slowly peeling off everywhere. Cheap sh*t for a cheap-a$$ car where every few months some damn thing goes wrong with it.

Like, just yesterday, dammit, out of the blue, absolutely no reason for it, I'm driving home from work and the GD speedometer sticks at 28 mph. Then after coming to a stop in heavy fwy traffic and going again, it was operating at like 50%, where 35 was actually 70, but I had to guess. It might just start working normally again or it might not, that's my point. These cars are crap.

I'm not trolling, dammit, I'm just sick of little sh*t like this going out all the time for no reason. Like the "I wanna be a BMW" rear shade ($800 as if I'm going to replace that) and a half dozen other nonsense. Yes, I'm just venting, yes I can just sell it and stop complaining. That's all beside the point. I never had this much trouble with little sh*t going out for no reason on my 06 Mustang GT.

There is a reason why you never buy the first year of ANYTHING new or used.

Hmm, valid point. So later years are more solid then? I dunno if forum posts here in the last few years would back up that assertion. I've had fewer problems than some but the ones I do have annoy the **** out of me because they should never happen. The damn speedometer, give me a f'ing break.

The Mustang has less issues because it is much less complicated. I can't think of European sedan electronics that hold up very well and all have a reputation for being crap. TT AWD is complicated. And it's a suped up Taurus. Honestly, there is no suped up version of a high volume american manufacturer car that isn't sorta crappy as far as materials and quality.

The car I would really want is the Aussie Ford Falcon XR8. 4 door rwd supercharged v8 with manual trans. Probably similar quality but less complicated than the SHO setups.

That is gorgeous. +1. Always liked silver.

Also don't mean to hijack this thread. I was just chiming in about the "chrome". The blackout look is def appealing for some. My 2006 M-GT had the yellow-&-black look with the wheels, etc, and that was cool. I am not a fan of blacking everything, though.

I guess I've been fortunate with my car. The only issues I've had are that MyTouch sucks (not broke in any way, just sucks) and the fake chrome on the tail lights peeled off. The rest of my fake chrome looks brand new.

I've actually had 2 random compliments about my car since I blacked out the tail light chrome. This car has been invisible to all up to this point. Someone at work asked if I got a new car and some random guy stopped me dropping off my kids at school to tell me my car looked awesome. Both completely random and not aimed at the tail lights at all.

I think in the future I may black out the gray around the fog lights and in the grill but keep the chrome in the grill. And black out the badges on the side but keep the window chrome. That way all 4 sides will have some black and some chrome.
