Hello everyone,
Has anyone experienced this? Only 6 days away from Christmas, and there were chestnuts roasting in my Yamaha engine instead over an open fire!

Well, let me explain....because my w-pump was leaking and making a bearing noise my friend and I decided to change it today. The change also included a new t-belt and crank seal. Well when we got off the lower t-belt cover a whole lot of chestnuts came out my engine! Apparently a squirel loves my SHO and decided to put all of his "nuts" in my engine. I am talking a good pound of them. Anyway, thank goodness the t-belt did not skip. I would've been very upset if it did.
We cleaned it all out and also found a furball while we were in there.
At the end of the day we put everything back together and now the car runs GREAT!

Parts used:
Water Pump:
F3DZ-8501-A
Front Crank Seal:
E9DZ-6700-B
ATX Timing Belt:
F3DZ-6268-A
Chestnuts:
???????????

Hey Tommy, how come your water pump failed with so little miles on your car?

the guy who had the car before me actually had to clean dog food out of the air filter where some mice had dragged it in.

I've pulled at least 10 or 12 nests from SHO engines. They like to nest behind the water pump, on the block in the "V" between the heads.

When I broke the 89 at the track back in the summer, I pulled it apart to repair, and found a nest in there. I had just put the 3.2L in a few months before. Might be the first mouse to clear 12.90 in the 1/4 mile

Dead or alive?

With my old saab the chipmonks used to love making nests in that thing, right near the heater core.

I really don't know why it started to leak, and also the bearing was making noise. The car is all original and the previous owner only drove the car maybe once a week. When I bought it in July '00 it only had 21K on it.
I figured I'd be up in the 80-90K range when I would need a w-pump, but I guess not. Oh well, I still love her!
