I believe his nickname on here is DeconBlue. I took this at the Maumee meet this year because it is the sweetest brake set-up I've ever seen! Just thought I'd share it with everyone.

They had "Cobra" on the calipers and that's really all I know. I didn't get a chance to talk to him about em. Maybe he'll pop in.

it's not that hard. SHODWN knows how to do it. It involved installing the left caliper on the right knuckle and vice versa. They are cobra dual piston calipers.

hmmmm on a 93 SHO

96 upgrade....1 Piston brakes....$995
Bear PBR upgrade....2 Piston.....$1205
TCE SHO stoppers....4 Piston.....$1545 + 200 core

So for the Cobras based on the piston to price set up, I would say we are looking just around $1100, now if someone tells me I am right, I am gonna poo a brick

Check here: http://www.glen-net.ca/shonutperformance/

They have different brake packages including 96' and Cobra brakes.

I thought about putting together a 96' brake upgrade group buy. Is there any interest.

You can see more pics of his brake setup on:

vorlon.cwru.edu/~jpv/SHObrakes/

They are indeed Cobra front brakes, but those rotors cost a lot of money. I can attest to the fact that they haul the car down like, NOW.

Yeah those are my front brakes.

If you have a '94-95 or a Gen III, it's a bolt-on. If you have a '89-93, then you need to convert to the '94-95 front spindles. I got the Ford factory brakes off a '94-01 Cobra Mustang that was getting a 14" front upgrade. Those are PBR 2-piston aluminum calipers and PBR/factory steel mounting brackets. You can also use the same HD PBR calipers off a 1LE Camaro/Firebird or '89-96 Corvette with 13" HD front brakes or a '01 Bullet Mustang. The 13" rotors are Baer EradiSpeed 2-pcs light weight units; drilled, slotted, directional vein and plated. I used these vs. the stock 13" Cobra rotors because they were 2.9 lbs lighter each. They are expensive, list price is $525 per pair. At the time, Baer didn't have them in the Taurus 5 x 4.25 lug pattern, so I got them in the Cobra 5 x 4.5" pattern and had them machined. They have since added the 13" rotor with the correct Taurus lug pattern to they EradiSpeed product line. I painted the calipers red with VHT brake paint. I run the CarboTech "F" compound pads front & rear.

I have just ordered all the parts to do a custom rear brake upgrade using the 11.6" front rotors and the wider '89-92 rear calipers. I will probably use a PowerStop drilled and slotted rotors to match the look of the front's, because Baer doesn't offer and EradiSpeed replacement rotor in the 11.6" size for the '96 SHO. BTW, you need to run 17" rims to clear these 13" front brakes.

And yes they make a world of difference (even more so than the 11.6" front upgrade did) along with the SS brake lines and modified rear load proportioning valve.

Just ask AutoXSHO, he's drive my car.

BTW, you can order this same front setup from Baer p/n F6FT2520013, if you don't want to fine all the parts seperately, for $925. Or you can upgrade the 13" standard Baer claw kit for the '94-95 SHO p/n F4FT-10150-5HN at $625 with the EradiSpeed rotor option p/n ORAH-12152-001 for an additional $270.

Granted, cheap it's not, but I want/need all the stopping power I can buy.

Check the other reply. Yes the 2-piston PBR caliper's mounting bracket can be modified to allow them to be used with the 11.6" front brakes and it saves about 4.0 lbs per side compared to the factory stock iron '94-95 caliper, mounting bracket and pads.

Several people have done the rear upgrade. The first person did his back in Nov.'99 Most people have only gone with the 11.6" front rotor, a few have done the 13" Cobra front rotor. If you run 17" open design 5-7 spoked wheels, it really helps the look as well as the overall braking performance.

The key is to use the '89-92 rear calipers that will work with the 1.1" thick vented front rotors. You then have to fabricate up adapter blocks that move the caliper and mounting bracket further away from the axle center line, similar to what AEM does with their Honda big brake kits. You also need hubcentric ring adapters because the rear hub has a smaller diameter than the front hub.
