You will have to read your codes to find out.

Guessing won't cut it.

Steve, is it normal for a CEL to come and go while you're driving as 'Slip is experiencing?

By definition, anytime the CEL comes on during normal driving, something ABNORMAL has occured (except during bulb-proveout).

Right I understand that, but am unclear as to whether it's normal for the light to come and go while you're driving. I'm under the impression that if the computer trips the light it should stay on until the "problem" has been corrected.

could it also be that i out a k&n replacment filter in there, could it be that the iat sensor is not reading it right, the cel has not come on in the last 2 days so im wondering if the problem no longer exists but ill wait and see

Not always.

Certain faults, especially if intermittent, will store a DTC into continuous memory for later retrieval but do not keep the CEL turned on.

Codes will stay in continuous memory for either 40 or 80 cycles (depends on model) if the problem does not reoccur or the PCM is not reset.

It could be maf related.. voltage high/low. Check your maf sensor. Run your codes anyway. The iat is basically useless in these cars

Ya, most likley its coming from a sensor with an AC current. It will help to read the codes to see what they say. However, what the computer says may not actually be the defective part. Lets say if you get a code for a CTS(coolant temp. sensor), the problem may actually be the thermostat, not the sensor itself. The main idea behind DTC is to give us a general direction to start trouble shooting in.
