Check Engine Light

after geting a cgr code from the code reader, I replaced the cgr valve cleaned the little passage real good, and I still get an egr code. It will stay off for a while when I first start it then the light comes on for a while then off, there is no change in engine performance. Any ideas?

If the EGR valve has been replaced and you're positive there are no restrictions in the passages from the valve through to the nostrils, then you probably have a defective DPFE sensor (rectangular silver box on the back of the intake).

how did you go about cleaning the EGR passageway?

I half assed the job (realized after the matter) when i had my intake apart..and appearantly did not do a good enough job to fix my EGR code.
