hello all, i have been having this problem since i purchased the car. here are my symptoms maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
the check engine light will come on and be on for about 30-60 seconds, it is never on long enough for me to scan for it. when it goes off it stays off for about 10 minutes and then comes back on sometimes. when the CEL comes on the car doesnt drive/sounds any different.
it only comes on if:
i drive the car for more than 10 minutes continuously.
it comes on sooner if i use "more" than 65% throttle (65% is an estimate)
and for instance if i am driving on the highway it will come on stay on for about a minute then go off. then come on about 8-12 minutes later and repeat. sometimes the timing of the CEL is a little different but this is mainly what i have noticed. also it seems my car runs rich. more than normal rich. i get about 17-18MPH and i can smell strong smell of fuel at idle. i have no leaks of any kind. the only thing i have replaced is the fuel filter. the car also has taylor wires and a K&N drop in that was done by the previous owner. i plan on doing valve cover gaskets and plugs too soon.
any/all suggestions would be great.
