I just purchased a '98 SHO about month ago and noticed that at idle sometimes, the engine would surge to around 2500 rpms, and the check engine light would never come on. Fine, I knew it was the TPS but it would correct itself and everthing was good. Tonight I started the car and everything was fine at first but then the idle started to climb and the check engine light came on so I decided to go to AutoZone and have them pull the codes and sure enough it said the TPS was at fault, so I went ahead a purchased a new one and replaced it but the check engine light still stays on. Any ideas? It was the only code that the reader gave so do I have to reset something or what?

The code reader from AutoZone is able to clear the codes. You can also reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a bit.
