After looking at some local AZ prices of $170+ for a rebuilt alternator I was thinking that there has to be another playing at least a little cheaper.

Anyone have any sources?

Should I rebuild? I defitnaly need one soon cause on my DVOM reading i'm only getting barly 13volts which isnt close to the regular 14.4.

Any other Ford's out there that use the same Alt? I cant believe the price difference lol wish I had a reg Tauri right now I can buy a new one for like $65.

$170 sounds pretty common to me as far as alternators go.

And 14.4?

I'm thinking that 13.6 is a normal voltage reading! shrug

I would recommend a rebuild. Either yourself or have a local pro do it. The ones off the shelf are of dubious quality. I came across 5 defective ones before I found one in spec. at the local autoparts stores. Next time I will rebuild.

Will a Gen I Alt work?

I can get one loacally but dont know if everything is up to ***** with a 93 motor?

wild01ride 14.4 is the standard for the charging system @idle for the majority of cars out there, anything below and its dangeroulsy close to true battery voltage of 12.6Volts which will eventually **** the battery like I did today.

Rob the cheapest I could find rebuilt in stock was $135 so i'll let you know soon if I want it or not.

Since I still have a Ford alt. I might end up removing it tmw afternoon and having it rebuilt at a local alt/charging shop for $55, had it done 2yrs ago with RI-SHO same alt. in current SHO, so I might consider a 2nd rebuild  .

My source is located in Milford MA and they charge $138 + tax. They usually have at least one in stock. Only problem with them is they will not/do not sell to the average Joe off of the street, so I have to order it through my buddy's shop. I know Autozone in Woonsocket has the ATX alternator in stock, and it is BIG bucks. When my alternator went the day before Thanksgiving, they told me they'd have to order it (MTX) and that it wouldn't get in till Dec. 2. I ordered from my buddy's shop and had it an hour later.
