I Was Just Wondering Cause I Have To Change My Fuel Filter. But Ive Never Did It On An Actually Running Car. Ive Only Did It On A Shop Car When I Was In School. So They Didnt Have Any Fuel Presure Actually They Didnt Even Have Fuel. So What Im Getting At Is I Know How To Take It Out And Put It Back In But Is There Anything Else I Should Do Before I Take It Off? For Example Do I Have To Release The Fuel Preasure From That Valve On The Fuel Rail?

Best way to relive the pressure is to start the car open the trunk and smack the fuel pump crash switch. It will shut off the pump and when your car stalls out there will be very little pressure left in the lines. Then just remove the little clips then unbolt it then your are good to go. Just bolt in the new filter replace the lines and clips. Don't forget to reset the fuel pressure trip in the trunk.

Do NOT try and change it while it's running man, that's friggin dangerous and you'll have fuel all over the place!!!!

Just kidding, ditto what Ishodu said.

Oh by the way, kudo's on capitalizing every single word in the entire post. I have never seen that before. Bizarre. (no, this isn't a flame. I just thought it was really bizarre).

I've never bothered releasing the fuel pressure,it probably is a good idea though, especially if you're smoking or accident prone. Even without releasing the fuel pressure, gas only drains out for a about 5 seconds and then only drizzles a little from the filter... no more than a shop rag or a gravel driveway can absorb. Just be patient replacing those nylon clips, they are needed and dont always want to seat properly.

Just use a fuel pressure tester and relieve the pressure from the schrader valve.

Your new filter should include new clips and have rubber caps over the ends. Use these caps to cover up the ends of the old filter so you don't get gas all over as there will still be a 1/2 pint or so in the filter.

Only tools required is a flat blade screw driver. Pry the old clips straight down with the screw driver, pull off the lines and put on the caps.
