I ohmed out my injecters and found two bad ones. One reading 1k and the other at 11k. I have not done this before. I know I will have to take off the air intake runners. Will I have clear access to the injecters (4&5) after that? Anything else I need to know or do?

I assume you measured across the inject itself and not the wiring also. After you get the intake off, the injectors are easily accessed.

The intake just looks intimidating, it comes off as a whole and once its off, its actually quite easy to work on this engine. Injectors are right in top with no constrictions with the intake off, you dont hear of injectors going bad with this cars alot, if your having fuel problems the usual culprits are fuel pump or filter. As mentioned make sure your testing them right, good luck!

I measured from the PCM pin 37 to each of the following pins 12,13,14,15,58 and 59. All the other pins measure around 8 ohms. Once I get the runners off I will measure the injecters and see if i get the same readings.

Use a couple of ice picks wrapped with tape as your two probes, you might be able to measure just the injectors, and not the whole harness and all of its connectors, by inserting the points into the back of the injector connector. You can at least cut the path in half by testing at the engine harness connector instead of the PCM plug.

What started this whole project was a rough running SHO and a cylinder balance test that faulted #5 cylinder. After finding the correct pins on the PCM, all the injecters checked good at 15 ohms. But I also found a little oil in the plug wells, not much just to the bottom of the boot by 1/8 of an inch. I put a timming light on #5 cylinder and it is lighting up. Other than plug seals, not sure what I should do. I have an extra coil pack. I may try that along with a new injecter. It sounded Ok while it was running. With a screwdriver on it, you could put your ear up to it and hear it clicking.

how are the plug wires? p.s. the plug well seals are easy enough to replace, might as well do some other things while your in there. Coils dont go bad too often either, but none of your guesses are unheard of, anything is worth a try.

Whats a good way to check plug wires? You have to have a megaohm meter/insulation meter to check them right? Would oil in the plug wells cause permanent damage to the wires?

The resistance of the internal conductor is the most important thing. Lack of resistance in the insulating silicone, while still important, will not hinder the performance to a great degree, IF, the central cores are all within resistance specs.

If your plug wires are the originals, all 3 SHOs ive worked on were, then its probably time to change them reguardless, the originals have this plastic loom wrapped around the wires.

I doubt the damage will be permanent. Just check the resistance of the center conductor with a volt ohm meter. I don't know right offhand what the resistance per foot of the stock wires should be; maybe someone has an EVTM manual handy.

The plug wires are 4 years old and are Ford OEM. They were over $200 for the set. I called today and they no longer carry them. What are a good set of replacement wires for a SHO ?
