Redrilling the hubs to a different pattern and installing new wheel studs. Preferably with a hubcentric wheel. I will be undertaking in the sping on my drill press so I can use stock fusion sport wheels.

This is a topic that comes up with some regularity - I don't know of many people that are happy with this stupid 5x108 bolt size. To my knowledge, though, nobody's come up with a way of changing it that doesn't involve drilling out the stock hubs.

Maybe some day...

Is it really that hard to get a set of hub blanks turned and drilled these days? I mean I'd imagine it's mostly lathe work, a little bit of CNC for the splines and some drilling for the bolts.

They would cost hundreds of dollars just to get the hubs made and ask anyone here, not many people will spend hundreds on these cars.

I got the front hubs done for like 40$ in a machine shop. 4X114 was the target , they had to plug a hole though (weld).

Maybe its possible for the rear if you either tap the holes and screw in studs (with 100% threads) , or tap and use male wheel nuts (like the festiva / saabs etc.)

I donno though I havnt done the rear.

the fronts are easy. redrill is simple, or possibly press in a 04 cobra rear wheel hub. rear mustang and front taurus have the same wheel bearing.

its the rears i haven't seen anything yet.
i read someone used a set of sleeves and mounted hubs from a 5x114.3 car on the rear. but i never found any useful info on the sleeves, or the car itself.
i suppose with some caliper work, you could make some sleeves to mount a front mustang hub on the rear of the taurus.

going from this:
getimage.php

to this:
getimage.php

but i have yet to take apart the rear of a taurus so i do not know firsthand what's back there. and whether or not this would change the offset and mess up your rotor alignment or not.

If i ever get the time and money im gonna send my fronts to Saturn5 and have them drilled and laying around just in case. and i will start thinking on the rear.

Still jealous of how easy swapping yours was

Heres what we have to work with in the rear.
this one looks promising...

fronts as its been said are they easy part. just re-drill the hubs. the rear is where the issue is. I've been working on using sn95 mustang front hubs on the rear but the tone ring is different and its smaller then stock, the bearing center is larger and would require a sleeve, and the actual hub is smaller at the width. I'm looking into probe hubs now as they are closer in size but still will require a sleeve.

GROUP BUY!

Seriously though, I wonder if a group buy of blank hubs would be feasible, let people get whatever pattern they want.

anybody have a Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager from 93-98 laying around to look at for rear hubs? Pattern is 5 x 114mm. NAPA only shows the bearing, I have no idea what the rear hub looks like.
We may want to check the front hub spline count, it looks similar to a Taurus.

'93 Taurus Wheel Bearings; Bore=1.6535", Outer Diameter=2.9921", Width=1.5354"

'93 Villager Wheel Bearings; Bore=1.8504", Outer Diameter=3.189", Width=2.0866"

Look to be too big.

iirc, the last time this came up the closest hub for the rear is the Windstar hub, but the offset is different so it made the rotor and/or caliper mounting next to impossible.

Do you if the rotor was to far out from the hub or to close? it it is to close thats a fairly easy fix with longer bolts and a spacer to move bracket, but it was to far away from the hub thats a bit iffy.
