Center console cup holder flap/hood broken

Center console cup holder flap/hood (the one that has slot for iPhone) was broken. The nub that rested in the swing arm broke. Ford wants 485 dollars for new unit. I simply used a push drill, drilled out the broken nub, and put a rolling pin in. Functionality is almost perfect and almost sits perfect when closed.

An FYI to people in the same boat.

The pin was 29 cents at ace.

Mine just broke too

My holder cover just broke too. It just refused to stay closed. The cover was the one that covers the area for the smart key. Glad I bought the extended warranty after hearing the cost for the center unit. My car is a 2011 with 24k miles.

Still waiting for the part to arrive... I had to pay for a missing small ford "hub cap" that somehow went missing. That was almost $34! I'll post again when it gets repaired. I think extended maintenance and warranty cost about $1200 back in 2010 when I purchased the car new.

quick follow up...had console replaced today. There was no charge under the extended warranty.
