So I noticed that I had a pretty bad smoking problem all of a sudden, put in engine restorer (oil additive) and all problems ceased. I started noticing a hiccup at about 1500 RPM. I drove it and it had NO power. Check engine light came on intermittently. Then the Cat started smoking and tuning dark. I have orderred a equal length Y-pipe, It was cheaper that just replacement cats, go figure. But my question is , what made the Cat(s) clog up all of a sudden? I am 16 and I am still learning symptoms/warning signs, I am installing this Y-pipe myself because I try to do all the work that I can on my own or with a friend. Thanks yall, God Bless. (+)

Well since you have seen a check engine light there is an issue. This will cause the car to add extra fuel to the mixture. In the end will burn up the cats if left for a period of time. Try a search on running codes, you will be able to pull your own engine codes and see what they mean with nothing more than a paper clip.
