carbon fiber hood issues

Got a carbon fiber gen 2 hood on my car and it dont seems to fit correctly.. where the hinges are it sots longer then the middle near the fender bulge upwards and it slopes bacl down at the lip.. seems wavey is what I mean but both sides are the same and the middle does sit above the fender some.. the stock latch dont even come close to latching.

I adjusted it for about a hour with no luck. It has a metal latch reinforcement plate but I do not plan to use it.. I got a set of pins coming in the mail.

I still would like to know if anyone has the same problems. Thanks

It won't fit like factory no matter what you do. Remove the good latch and drill out the holes so you can raise the latch up so it will latch. Even using hood pins I would use the latch just in case you forget to put the pins in. Not that I have ever done that or anything lol.

Also I did try and raise the latch up seems like something just aint right. Comes close just not there.. a time or 2 it did almost grab

Super hard to get pics to show what I mean... the front lip os touching the headlight covers and the rear of the hood where the hinges are go below the fender lip yet the middle of the hood bulge above the fender lip

Your hood is warped. No amount of adjusting will get it to fit like the factory hood. It's a copy made from a mold of an aftermarket hood, and on top of that they have bad quality control.

So live with it huh? My question is am I the only one with a warped hood? I do have a fiberglass hood bit its blue and needs some tlc

Mine too but people are mesmerized by the carbon fiber and won't notice. And if they do tell them the awesome power of the Yamahammer trying to escape the engine bay has caused the hood to bow from the constant pounding.
I used the bump stop location for the hood pins and did a plate for the hood latch too.

Doesn't removing your bump stops cause the hood to move around?

Is the bracing fiberglass? I wonder if you can cut it, flex the hood to where it needs to be, and refiberglass it.

It has a fiberglass frame.. fiberglass flexs much more then carbon fiber.. if I removed the fiberglass I would carbon fiber it...

I already done a repair of the fiberglass with carbon fiber with uneven webbing and it was much stiffer and worked very well

Do you have your hood truts on? If so, take them off.

No hood struts. . Thinking about getting semi blown ones to use for hood props

MY hood is warped like that on the right side. Never going to fit like factory, smhh.

Doesn't removing your bump stops cause the hood to move around?

I put a stops/ rubber washers on the vertical hood pin, then the hood rests on them when closed and push down slightly to insert key/ring pin.
Also I used 1 of the pair of hood strut relocation brackets, just right if you ask me. Use both if you want to flip your up so fast it breaks.
Andy has the other bracket right now, he's making a set for the Black car he bought from Tony that burned at VIR.
