i was driving my sho and it had a couple sudden surges and then the tack went crazy and all the dash lights started blinking along with the stereo and then the car died. after this, it was completly dead.i couldn't even lock the doors. I looked under the hood and there was smoke coming from the region of the alternator so i replaced it and reconnected the battery and it is stil completely dead. I have come to a dead end.

I had a similar thing happen to me in a previous car i had and it turned out being a fusible link between the battery and the harness

You most likely have a failed battery or ground cable/connection or battery if the electrical system is "completely dead" as you describe.

A multimeter would be useful about now.
