I changed my fuel filter this morning and drove my car around the block and everything was fine. Then an hour later I drove about 2 miles and got gas but on my way back from the gas station my car died. I started it back up drove about another 300 feet and it died again. I tried to start it and the starter goes but the car just wont kick all the way over.:laugh_ti: All of my elec's are working and I tried to jump it but it didnt make a difference. I turned the key to ON a couple times and let the fuel pump buzz and the car almost kicked over.. The car gets seems like its gonna start but it just doesnt?? What else do I need to check??

Does the tach move at all when youre cranking it and it almost starts? If not, you're probably looking at a bad CPS. You sure you didn't let anything get into that fuel line when you removed the filter?

Ya after the car sat for an hour I went back and started it with the gas to the floor. It stalled about 5 times within a mile then it wouldnt start backup. Then a couple hours later I went back again and got it home (about a half mile) then it stalled in my driveway. It seems to stall when I let off the gas. Do CPS go bad at anytime or do they slowly go bad. This seemed like an all of a sudden thing after I changed the fuel filter. Ill check everything tomorrow because its to late now. How hard is it to change the CPS?

Hate to break the news to you, but it definately sounds like the CPS is the culprit. Looks like your right around the mileage for scheduled maintenance, if it hasn't been done already. Replacing the CPS for a new one is a 10 min job. Getting to the CPS however is the challenge.

But before you go through all of that just to find out that, that isn't your problem, check your codes using the Key On Engine Off method. All you need is a paper clip, and to follow the instructions at this site ...... http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm

Instructions on replacing the CPS can be found here ..... http://www.shophoenixproject.com/lower60k/lower60k.htm. Good luck!

Ok i ran the codes and wow did I get quite a few codes. Here they are:

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range - EVR or PFE

Stored:

122 (O,M) TP low (possibly grounded or open circuit) - TPS
158 (O,R,M) MAF sensor is/was high or short to power - MAF
212 (M) Ignition TACH signal was erratic (module/wiring) or SPOUT circuit fault - Ignition Systems
215 (M) Primary circuit failure - ignition coil 1 - Ignition Systems
216 (M) Primary circuit failure - ignition coil 2 - Ignition Systems
217 (M) Primary circuit failure - ignition coil 3 - Ignition Systems
332 (R,M) EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly - EVR or PFE
556 (O,M) Fuel pump relay primary circuit fault - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

Obviously I need new coils but what else?

you dont need a new coil pack...
thats just the after math of the CPS fouling out. The CPS and CID tell the EEC when to send spark to each cylinder... so if one is fouled out, well theres your coil codes. another thing that will cause a coil code to pop up would be a bad DIS.

I would start with the CPS.
The EGR code could be a bad EGR valve, DPFE sensor, even just a clogged nostril in the intake, or a bad vac line.
MAF code, could be a dirty MAF.
The TPS, eh, replace it...
Fuel pump, probably when it stalled on you.
a good site to start from for the CPS :
