Have had issues with my cruise control working very intermittenly (see easlier post below) but when i can engage it, it works fine for as long as I need it too. Though infrequent, the decel, accel and resune buttons do work.
My question is there a way to by pass the steering wheel and create a new set of toggle switches to engage the three buttons and the on/off switch

I think it has to do with the clock spring and or dirty buttons on the steering wheel

If all three buttons are only working intermittently, I doubt all three buttons went bad at the same time. There may be a problem with the button's common ground. Bypassing the buttons probably will not help.
Pull that section off the steering wheel and check the buttons operation with an ohmeter. Clean all contacts before reassembly and see if that fixes your problem.

I replaced the clockspring on my 90 when the cruise control went out and it restored all the functionality.
