I am changing my rotors and calipers on my 89. Can I order these pieces for a 91? Even though my 89 does not have abs. I Think the rotors are bigger on a 91, correct me if I am wrong. Can I keep my new pads from my 89 that I just purchased and install them on the calipers and rotors from a 91. Help thanks

The suspension is the same on the 86-91 Taurus models. The only difference is cosmetic and interior. between some years. If you are trying to upgrade brakes, you might want to look at a 96 brake upgrade. Just do a search, there are a lot of posts on how to do it and where to get parts.

Can't do a 96 brake upgrade on an 89 or 90 if it still has 15" wheels FYI.
Hmmmm...I learn something new every day here. Guess I'm lucky mine's a 91.

Erik...is it impossible to do it?...or just more headache? Seems like you could change out parts much like I'd have to do..knuckle, spindle, etc. and make it work. Are the wheel wells just too small for 16's?

My 89 has a set of 94 slicers on them. So I am ok for the upgrade. Thanks for all of the info. The sho forum is great. Helped me a lot.

Beth, the 96 upgrade on an 89 would be great, because you have the selection of any 94+ spindle out there, since you don't need the abs sensor. The only problem is, the bracket pushes the caliper out so far, I'm not sure you would even be able to mount the 15" wheel on there. I currently switch between 95 and 96 brakes, since I run both 15's and 16's. The 94/95 brakes will fit under a 15" wheel. But yeah, for your 91 you need the spindles, caliper brackets, calipers, pads, and rotors.

Beth The caliper would grind into the wheel and that would ruin your day. :) :(
No, I meant if you put 16" rims on it. LOL :) Guess I should have specified.

The front rotors and hubs are almost identical between 89 and 91. For the 89 only (I think) the inner hub opening on the rotor is smaller, so is the hub on the car. So you could put the larger 91 rotors on an 89, but not the smaller 89 rotors on a 91. The overall size is identical, so is the offset and bolt pattern. Just the inner hole is different. Is that right,,89 experts?

Bizzy, the 96 upgrade is easy, and you already have slicers so no problems.

I have a set of '90 SHO Front and Rear knuckles out in the garage just laying in the floor, if that will help with your '89 SHO brake problem.

Cheap!
