Can I Pull Codes While Engine Is Cold

My car does not start and I need to know if I can pull codes wile the motor is cold. Let me know !

Yes, you can pull the KOEO (Key On, Engine Off) codes. Obviously you cannot do the KOER (Key On, Engine Running) test since it does not start.

Yeah, but the step by step test info says warm up the engine. Thanks for the quick response though.

Some of the sensors will give false codes if the engine is cold. Of course you can run the engine off test.

But even if you run the engine running test while it's cold, you can get codes that will help fix problems. (ie crank position sensor)
