actually the good news is the rocker panels are no where near the horrible shape i anticipated, that includes the supports. The passener side was better than the drivers side with only a few holes...the drivers side is missing about foot maybe less of the rear part of the rocker. although it did take a little work and a few broken screw inserts to remove the molding...im sure i can purchace some somewhere.
The bad news...well the bad news is i just cracked my knee cap off of my desk and i want to cry.
I know it is ill advised by most body professionals, but i think im going to remove as much of the rust as i can...POR-15 it and then fiberglass the missing holes/sections of the rockers. It will last a few years if done correctly and in that time ill hopefully come across a southern or cali Gen 1 with potential! if not...ill get the half rockers and possibly rear quaters done professionally within a year or so but would rather keep myself busy and salvage before more damage is created by the rust.
surprisingly...the floor pans are just starting to show signs of a little rust coming through the paint so those can be easily saved with some grinding, POR-15 and a little coating. I think this might have orignially been a southern car and IIRC Chris, Sonic-riot might have said it was a souther car. I imagine if it was a PA CT NY or so the car would have been as bad as my last...a year new version with tons more rust. and many more issues...did i mention i payed twice as much for it...not knowing what i was getting into purchacing my first car ha!
