Ok, I had a post earlier about my 95 ATX, that when is warm, and sat for an hour or two, will backfire through the intake, when i try to start it, then will crank for 5-10 seconds. And after the backfire, it will smell from the engine compartment, like burnt something, anyways, my crank and cam sensors along with my DIS are 6k old. It was suggested to replace my cam sensor, it looks pretty easy, but the sensor is about 60$, I don't want to replace it if it isn't the problem, how sure are u guys that this will fix my prob? Only does it when hot and sat for a couple hours, never any other time, no CE light or difference in how it drives or performs. Thanx for ur help-Doug

Autozone has the cam sensor (part # F134) for $30.00. A worthwhile sensor to replace, along with the crank sensor. They both tend to fail after 6-8 years. The DIS should be changed only as a last resort.

My car began to act up on Monday. Severe bucking/surging idle with backfiring/stumbling on the restart. From what I read and ask other folk, it seems to be the culprit.
