is it difficult to change the cam sensor? i dont need to remove the intake do i?

I'm assuming you have an 89 which I am pretty sure you need to remove the engine dampner to get at the cam sensor. It's also easier to remove the tube that the DIS is bolted to.

atx. i will remove the end of the plenum with the dis on it. i should be able to reach it better.

I'm assuming you have an 89 which I am pretty sure you need to remove the engine dampner to get at the cam sensor. It's also easier to remove the tube that the DIS is bolted to.


-ummm....now he said CAM sensor(or CID sensor to me if i understood), not crank sensor. cam (or CID)sensor is fairly easy on the passenger back side of the engine, the CRANK sensor you have to remove the dampner for........:booboo:

It's easier to get at the cam sensor if the dampner is removed but it's not impossible.

yeah that was from the time that I popped my hood (yes I took the dampener off) until the time that the tools were back in the toolbox!

Its real easy I would say about a 10min job anyone can do it just pull of the upper crossover tube and youll be good to go.

The sensor itself is held on by 2 5.5mm bolts.
The sensor housing is held on by 2 8mm bolts.
If you see any oil in there, change out the cam seal as well.

lol, I was thinking the same thing, then I thought about it some more. They're talking about the engine anti-roll dampener that's mounted to the strut tower. I've had mine off for so long I didn't realize what they were talking about at first.
