Yup, another cam failure prevented. The v8 was making lifter-like noise for a hundred miles or so. The sprockets were loose and appeared to be sliding back and forth. I MIG'd them and the noise went away...but, the cam position sensor tab on the cam is also loose.

Anyone know how to align, or does anyone have a picture of the cam with a correctly positioned sensor? I'd like to use the adjacent cam lobe as reference so an end-on shot would be best. Funny thing, though, the engine seems to run fine with the sensor unplugged..

I answered you post in the other forum but thought you wanted the outside sensor. I have a picture that shows the tab but you need to blow it up. I will send it to you via email.
