Well after getting the motor to TDC i put on the timing belt, tensioner, pulley, put on the crank sensor and just threw back on the side of the intake with the DIS and fired it up. It ran but is missing and idling LOOOW. Can anyone tell me with the timing belt sprockets at 12:00 all lined up at the top - what position should the "window" on shutter wheel of the rear exhaust cam be at? I took all that off and replaced the sensor but I think I may have put it in the opposite position when I put it back on -- forgot to make a note of it's position on removal.

I don't have everything back together - I just put the bare minimum back on first to see if she would run - It does run - but it's going to need valve cover gaskets too as my plug wells are FULL of oil and the plug wires are falling apart. I know that can contribute to the way it's running also - but I just want to make sure I have that CPS shutter wheel is in the correct position - so anyone know how it should look please help. THanks ALOT

guessing your asking about the which side the metal fin under the cam sensor should be on? iirc, it should be on the back side (towards the firewall)with the open side(side without the fin), towards the radiator.
look at the pic under number 22, it should show ya(its about 3/4 of the way down page 2)

and make sure your not off by a tooth on your timing belt!!

My memory isn't what it used to be but I could have sworn that the vane hole was polarized, meaning it can only be put on one way. The vane has to stick out or it wouldn't pass through the sensor fingers.

It can only go on one way.

I think I'm going to go with trying out in either possible position and whichever one runs better is the correct one. Thanks for the replies but it's hard to explain. I think Sho Freak understood the question but the pic wasn't helpful. Because at the point that he put the shutter wheel back on the cam - his cam sprockets weren't in any certain position. So it gave me nothing to reference - His two upper sprockets were in two different positions. I messed up and didn't make note of the shutter wheel position when I removed it now I can't figure out which way it should be on. There's only two options so I'll just pick the one that runs better.

that would be a HUGE help. Thanks ALOT. If it's a TDC then I have a reference point - i'll put mine back at TDC and match your pic.

here ya go, i put it back on the way it came off before doin the seal. looks like my first post was WRONG!
camvane.jpg

but also iirc, the crank turns twice to the cams single turn, so one spin of the crank would be half turn o the cam...so it would be 180*, and on the other side.......or am i over thinking this, and am completely wrong?

your engine is most definitely at TDC in this pic right - with cylinder 1 being at it's highest point? if that's the case that's all I need buddy -- thanks again.
