cam chain timing

anybody have a picture of how to do the cam timing on the chain side? :thankyou:

I don't have a pick, but here goes. There are 2 lighter links on the chain. They get lined up with the timing marks on the sprocket, as do the dots/holes on the actual cams. With cylinder 1 at tdc the marks on the chain sprockets should be level with the top of the head and on opposite sides. Hope this helps.

The "dots" will be at opposite sides of each other. and level with the cam cover surface.

i cant figure it out i have the light marks on the chain lined up with both dots and the are completly opposite of eachother and with out the intake cam lined up on the other end they sit even with the edge of the head its so confusing lol i hate timing.... and jmpsho if u could plz take a pic thanks guys

The pic will help, but it sounds like you have it right. The chiltons manual from auto zone has a good pic of it too.

Could you take a pic of the timing marks with the valve covers ect off? If I could see it I could tell you if it's in time.
