Some of you may recall my failed attempt to provide a 304 SS mandrel bent catback to the community.

I did however get one system built (2-1-2) using Magnaflow straight through mufflers. It was always buzzy/raspy.

Well I swapped out the straight through muffler yesterday with this:

And I couldn't be happier with the sound and no apparnt difference in performance.

I'll try to get some sound clips this weekend, but if anybody is considering changes to their exhaust system I strongly recommend this muffler.

The website you posted for Magnaflow shows three different mufflers. Which one did you use?

It's the ones I've been telling people about for a long time. I have them on my car.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPUGKmYeQn0

I originally had a 2-1-2 with a 4" round straight through Magnaflow midpipe for a resonator, then the drivers side straight through Magnaflow got stuffed about a foot forward so I hacked it off and went with a 2-1-1 on the passenger side.

The single straight through muffler seemed to sound almost exactlly the same as this new muffler but when the secondaries opened up the rasp was really obnoxious. Unless I was really laying on it, then it sounded really wicked.

With this new three chamber muffler I get the rich rumbling idle and the wicked snarl at WOT without any of the obnoxious rasp in the middle. And this is regardless of how "on it" you are.

I'm finally very pleased, I've been playing around with exhausts on these cars for quit a while.

Depending on how the straight through Magnaflows sound on an SC I may have some for sale cheap in the future.

Stay tuned...

PS Sean, what do you have upstream for a midpipe? Y-Pipe?

I think I'll be picking up a set in the spring. Wasn't sure which Magaflows to get, and these sound about as deep as a V6 can sound.

Magnaflows blow. Sure they are good for hiding rasp when used as a resonator but they are all too silent and all too raspy unless you are running a 3 muffler setup (one in the center, two out back)

Ryan, If you want magnaflows, take mine. My daily driver is louder than my "fun car." ***!

Besides, loud pipes save lives. And my SHO is about as quiet as a civic. With the civic rasp too.

Before anyone lashes out: Yes, I have magnaflows. And Remember, its just my opinion.

C Gates: Carry on. Post up a sound clip. And that reminds me, Did Zack ever call you? I gave him your # and told him to call ya... If not gimme a buzz this weekend

I've got A 4x9 IIRC. As well as being catless, I have no resonator.... and I have zero rasp, and an even better tone through-out the rev's. I do have the cold start-up rasp (no way to get rid of that), but as soon as the engine/exhaust warms, the tone drops and just sounds great.

Now that I fixed a couple small exhaust leaks, I need to grab a decent sound clip. All the ones in the past have not done the sound justice. Not to mention you really need a nice sound system to even get a good idea....

But hey... everyone has very different taste's, and the SHO can provide many different flavors when it comes to sound.
