In the latest edition of C&D they state that the new SHO cannot do a burnout because of the AWD system. While this is true, there is a simple way to turn your perfectly good front tires into clouds of smoke. Not only is it possible to do it from a stand still, it also works well from a 15-20 MPH roll.

1. Turn off traction control via switch above radio.
2. With left foot, push down on parking brake just enough to make the light come on. This disables the rear diff from engaging and keeps all the power going to the front wheels.
3. Floor accelerator while holding foot on parking brake to keep light on.
4. After leaving about 20 ft. of stripes and the car finally gains traction, release parking brake fully and allow car to shift at redline.

For even longer stripes, engage parking brake to the first click. This will allow you to use your left foot on the regular brake pedal to build boost before launch.

Don't believe me? Try it.
P.S. It also works on the Ecoboost Flex and MKT.

Interesting factoid, but why do this, when it only wears out the tires, and maybe other more costly things ?

Its funny how when ever some one does a burnout or even talks about one the "sho moral police" jump all over the guy.

Its a burnout for crying out loud, once in a while ok and fun at the same time to just rip one!!! :)
Wait, what!?!?!?

On the R32's you can pull a fuse and it makes the car only function in FWD form. Some guys do it if there is no AWD dynos in their area.

I imagine there might be something like this as well on the SHO.

Negative Sir, Pulling the Fuse for the ATTESA-ETS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain - Electronic Torque Split) AWD System on the R32 GTR made the car RWD.

I've played with many Skylines in my day. :)

Didn't you get a speeding ticket with an equally egregious length in one of those?

well at least you think of the better car lol

I agree. Never have been a fan of the quality of a VW. Especially the interior. Everyone I have ever worked on at work the interior was falling apart. Now in Germany it may be different but from what I have seen here in the States I would stay away from one.

Ugh, I got the speeding Ticket right after I sold the Skyline, In my 93 WRX.

Wich by the way, Weighed 2700 Pounds and had 240 HP (Not counting the quite a few bolt ons it had). Compare that to the WRX's that came out in the states in 2002 (227 hp, 3100 Pounds). :)

But yes, I got a 863 Dollar speeding ticket in Japan.

I had an '81 Scirocco, which we only finally got rid of in 2004 when it had over 425k on the clock, and it was still running the original interior with never a problem at all, or even major wear, though I do think the bolsters on the driver seat where starting to weaken. On the exterior, in about '97 or so I had to do some serious body work to correct rusting that had started around the inturn lip of all the wheel wells, but otherwise the car was rust free, and that is with it being driven in Nova Scotia freeze/thaw winters of salt and snow its entire life.

I do not know anything about the quality of cars put out by VW since then, but that one I had from '81 certainly was very good, and nothing I could ever complain about.
