ok, so about a week ago, my '92 quits on me (It's not charging the battery, and no check engine/battery light) anyways, I find that a wire that's connected to a stud on the alternator has popped off (it looks to be a 10-12GA Red wire), I put it back on, and alls fine and good until a few days later, pops off again...this time the wire looks like it's burning. I figure that maybe I didn't put it on there tight enough and that it's arching, so I put it on again making sure that it's on there good, and now a few hours ago, I notice the lights dimming again, check the wire, and it's that damned wire again! this time it looks really bad...I fear that I'm just asking for an engine fire driving it like this...what the heck is going on!? maybe it's a short somewhere? but the rest of the cable looks fine. the burned part is pretty bad, though and cutting it off, it won't reach the alternator, so I'm sure I need a new cable, but I don't want to put a new cable on there so that it can start burning again...
man, I'm no good at electrical problems...I have an A/C blower fan that won't shut off too...hope that doesn't have anything to do with it...anyone have a wiring diagram??
