Took the bolt off the ignition switch and the plastic stripped straight out of the harness connector. Anyone have the connector or that part of the harness? I figured it can rein it, but I don't want to replace the whole thing if I can help it.

Alternatively, if this is a SLO part as well, then I could hop over to a junkyard...

Just re-wired it. The replacement worked like a charm. Only hangup was getting the plastic locking plate to seat fully over the small wires. Good to know that the reason for that plate is that it keeps the locking tabs engaged with the wires so they can't disconnect on their own.

Do you have a pic of what you are referring to? I've currently got my column shroud off from doing a blend door actuator. There is a little gray plastic piece that is really brittle. I'm wondering if I need to go to a JY and get a replacement.

The switch itself is for sure a failure item. I was searching for other ignition issues on the web years ago and came across a few failure posts and maybe a vid or two. Maybe check out the inside for corrosion? These materials are so old now could easily just be degrading plastic.

I've already had to replace the switch itself, but this time the harness failed:

NoSlo have me a link to a brand new replacement. Swapping wires to about an hour.

I actually took it off because I was swapping out the heater core. The bolt fell out and the harness plug was held together merely by the wires and the plate. As I extracted the wires one by one pieces started falling off the plug. I think I only had to depress two or three latches. All the other wires just came out on their own!
