OK, let me put me thinking cap on.... just thinking out loud... some ideas.

1. Get some gaffer's tape from Amazon or BH Photo Video. It's like duct tape, typically black, also 2", but won't leave a sticky residue behind. Tape up the ENTIRE thing to ensure everything is sealed (don't be afraid to cover portions of the mirror itself), including the joint where the mirror folds. If you no longer hear the rattle, then proceed to step 4.

2. If you're still hearing the rattle, then it's probably not from air flow getting inside the unit. Disassemble the mirror, and use the gaffer's tape to hold down ALL loose parts (wires, clips, etc.) that could potentially rattle. Reassemble, and test it out. If the rattle is gone, then something apparently was bouncing around, possibly vibrations? With the rattle gone, skip to step 4. If it's not, then try again with all crevices taped, as well as all loose parts taped internally and retest.

3. If you got to this step, and nothing's loose inside the mirror, and no air is getting inside, then it's not the mirror. Look elsewhere.

4. If you've determined that loose stuff is bouncing around due to air flow and/or vibrations, and the tape helped, then use hot glue to anchor all wires and loose parts. Sealing the cracks is good too, but you already thought of that.
