brakes messing up need help

So finished motor swap in car and test drove it today. Its was no good I didnt mess with the breaks at all. When i push on the brakes the pedal is stiff but the brakes are not i guess you could say not hooking up and stoping like they should. It kinda slides when u put brakes on. The fluid is full and rear porportioning valve is newer.
