I had the grinding problem with my 2010 SHO, 26,500 miles. I had taken the car to my local Ford dealer and described the problem. Thankfully, they found the TSB related to the complaint and ordered the parts.
I informed the service advisor that I was planning to drive to Florida and wanted to take the car. He assured me that the grinding noise did not affect braking performance and was simply a noise issue. I was given the ok to take the car from North Carolina and bring it in when I got back from vacation.
So, yesterday the car was in the shop for the new brakes according to the TSB. BUT, the TSB supposedly only covers new rotors for the front brakes only, as well as pads and calipers. During the install, it was noted that my right rear rotor was totally toast, with 4 huge grooves in it. They had to order rear rotor and replaced pads and calipers on all 4 wheels, plus 3 rotors. It seems that the TSB suggests turning the rear rotors, but not replacing them. Luckily, there was no charge for the crunched rotor.
My question is, what is the opinion about having 3 new rotors and one somewhat used rotor? Performance-wise, the car seems to stop as well if not better than before, and thankfully without the horrible grinding.
