I had the grinding problem with my 2010 SHO, 26,500 miles. I had taken the car to my local Ford dealer and described the problem. Thankfully, they found the TSB related to the complaint and ordered the parts.
I informed the service advisor that I was planning to drive to Florida and wanted to take the car. He assured me that the grinding noise did not affect braking performance and was simply a noise issue. I was given the ok to take the car from North Carolina and bring it in when I got back from vacation.
So, yesterday the car was in the shop for the new brakes according to the TSB. BUT, the TSB supposedly only covers new rotors for the front brakes only, as well as pads and calipers. During the install, it was noted that my right rear rotor was totally toast, with 4 huge grooves in it. They had to order rear rotor and replaced pads and calipers on all 4 wheels, plus 3 rotors. It seems that the TSB suggests turning the rear rotors, but not replacing them. Luckily, there was no charge for the crunched rotor.
My question is, what is the opinion about having 3 new rotors and one somewhat used rotor? Performance-wise, the car seems to stop as well if not better than before, and thankfully without the horrible grinding.

Too bad they didn't give you the option of paying for the 4th rotor. They aren't particularly expensive, based on my after market purchase of new rears, when I went to better pads on my Flex.

If it were me, I would have paid for a new rotor. However that's just my ocd talking and not based on any fact whatsoever. Whats the cost of rotors and pads from the dealer?

Brought my 2010 w/ 20,000 miles into the dealer and tried to get them to do the tsb by complaining about brake noise and trying to casually slip in the fact that there was a tsb... but no dice.

There is brake noise but it isn't very bad.

Jc, it's too bad they wouldn't do the tsb based on your complaint, but I can tell you that the grinding quickly escalated in volume and episode frequency within a few weeks of the first time I noticed it.

What happened is that the service advisor told me I got "new rotors, pads, and calipers all around". I took that to mean that all 4 got replaced. I didn't realize that only 3 of the rotors were replaced until I looked at the paperwork. Had I known that, I would have offered to buy a 4th rotor. But, the brakes do seem to work better than before the noise started.

Weird they did all 4 rotors and all the pads for our car for free and referenced the same TSB. Maybe depends on the dealership I guess.
