Same setup here..

I also love it.

BTW with no mod. besides 99 knuckles, my slicers fit perfectly over my 98 cobra calipers.

No spacers, no nothing. I was told over and over again that they wouldnt fit....
Your Cobra caliper brackets have in fact been modified to allow them to fit under 16" wheels, and you are running 11.6" rotors. Look at the brackets from behind the rotor, you'll see two sets of holes.

The Mustang/Cobra PBR caliper brackets will mount directly to the '94+ knuckes without modification, HOWEVER, you must go to larger (17"+) wheels or have the caliper bracket or the caliper itself modified to fit under stock 16" wheels. A couple of people with aftermarket 16" wheels have been able to fit the 13" PBR calipers and brackets unmodified under the wheels, but it's a very tight fit and there is only 1 or 2 model wheels it will fit under.

thats some good, informative info Chris. perhaps ill add a bit more.

under 16" slicers, a 12.x"(dont recall the exact size, but believe its 12.5") rotor can be fitted with Cobra Calipers. the rotors are Cobra rotors turned down from 13" with the caliper brackets also modified. the rotors also need to be redrilled for the Taurus lug pattern.

Let me know when its confirmed. :thumb:

The Mustang GT PBR calipers (NOT Cobra) does fit under slicers with plenty room to spare.

Basically, these are PBR GT (not cobra) dual piston aluminum calipers on stock 10.75" (10.8"?) '94-95 SHO rotors.
Requires '94-95 knuckles/spindles.

Costs:
Used GT calipers on ebay for ~$50.
'94-95 knuckles from the junkyard $60/pair.
New pads $50.
I already had '94-'95 rotors on hand from a prior swap, but you can find them new for ~$25 each on rockauto.
(Threw in some stainless steel brake lines ($90) with the money I saved.)

Informal testing using my own personal butt G-Tech feels that these stop about as well as the '96 brake upgrade (which uses a larger diameter 11.6" but 2 lb. heavier rotor and single piston cast iron caliper which don't dissipate heat as well as aluminum).

This rig definitely stops better than stock, and that's good enough for what this '91 SHO Plus will be used for.
Not too shabby for ~$150 (w/o the SS brake lines). YMMV.

I'm sure this has been done before, but I got the idea from here: Thunderbird Brake Upgrades. Check out the 4-piston Brembo calipers on 13" rotors -- now that is HOT.

The GT calipers have this open slot in the middle, that is not present on the Cobra calipers.

It's necessary to be very careful about which rotor you're trying to use if you want to fit under slicers. The 12.2" rotors consistent with the Bondurant brakes (cut down 13" Cobra rotors) will fit under slicers, but only if a spacer is used (roughly 1/8"). The Baer 12.5" kit with the corvette deep-offset rotors will not fit under slicers.

There are so many options these days with fitting the PBR calipers that it's getting confusing.

Just the info I was looking for!!! But one last question before I dive into this...

The GT Calipers, they retain the mustang caliper bracket, or are they bolted to the Taurus' bracket? If so, can I bolt these to the 96-99 SHO Caliper bracket and use this setup on an 11.6" rotor?

I actually considered doing that awhile back. However, the cost of the Brembo kit from Ford vs what you actually get don't make it very worthwhile. Todd Cook's kit with a 1.1" rotor and FSL calipers is a much better bang for the buck. Bigger calipers and 2 piece rotors that are probably easier to find and cheaper to replace.

I also considered the Mustang Brembo Gran Turismo brake kit but at $5K it's not worth it (I don't want the cross drilled rotors anyway). I think that Todd's kit is on par with it for 25% of the cost.

I was going to respond to all of the PBR stuff but I got confused about 5 posts ago. :)
