I have a '92 SHO in need of some front brakes. I did a search and couldnt find much information.

I would love to do the '96 Brake Upgrade but I dont have the time and money right now. I figure if I'm changing the brakes I mine as well upgrade. I saw some Brembo Rotors on Mid-West's website, are they stock size, are they good rotors? They're the only ones I've looked at so far. $130 seems like a lot. Suggestions on Pads and Rotors would be awesome.

Thanks guys.

I just took a look at SHO Shop's brake upgrade, it seems like a pretty good deal. $160 for pads and rotors. Anyone know about their kit?

Forget that. Get a set of Performance Friction pads from the local autoparts store and a new set of cheap rotors. Save a few bucks and do the front upgrade later. The extra stopping power is well worth IMHO.

Ok, thanks.

Do you have any company names I should be looking for? Arent "cheap" rotors known to warp?

The point is the oem sized rotors are going to warp or wear quickly any way you slice it. I'm sure driving/braking habits can accelerate this, but it will happen with any of these cars. So, if you're not going to upgrade to another setup, keep your costs lower and use a quality pad and a sensibly priced rotor. The AutoZone cheapies are not bad for the money. Paying several times the price will not provide enough benefits to justify the cost. I love the 13" setup I'm running and I think a '96 upgrade size or larger should have been standard issue-- considering the acceleration capabilities of the powerplant and the weight of the car.

Ok, thanks. So you think I should go with some AZ rotors and performance pads? Any specific company for pads?

Dumb question but: Does an axle set mean one side or the whole front end? I'm guessing one side, or one axle. oh If so then that's $110 for the pads plus shipping. Then the rotors. It seems like SHO Shop's kit is a better deal.

Yes, those are the pads. You should love them wink

An "Axle set" will be a 4 pads set. Good for 2 wheels.

I have stock sized AZ rotors on the back of my SHO. They work fine and rust much less than the Brembos on the front.

Actually the better rotors seem to rust more. I thought I read it was due to higher iron content which could be a good thing. I think it was in a post here not long ago.
