I've noticed for a while back that when I go to turn on the car, the brake pedal has a lot of pressure on it till I start the car. Once I start it, the pressure is gone. Maybe its just me thinking there is something wrong, or is there actually something wrong? Help! Thanks in advance for all the help.

When you start the car, the engine provides the vacuum necessary for the power assist. If the pedal is VERY hard when you first step on it with the engine off, you may have a minor vacuum leak somewhere.

Virtually all modern cars have vacuum assist power brakes. When the engine is not running there isn't much vacuum to assist you. Compare your car to several others. Great excuse for a few test drives, but try to choose similar year Taurus' to get a good feeling for differences.
