I've had my current sho for a few months now and love it. She's not as much the beast as the blue one that met a guardrail and jersey wall, but she's getting tender love and care right now along with some goodies. My question concerns the brake pedal which changes in feel. Sometimes the pedal is soft and other times it's hard. When it's soft brake response is more sensitive and the brakes come on more abruptly. It takes some care but not too much, to stop smoothly when this happens. Other times the pedal is pretty hard and doesn't travel as much. Usually the pedal is soft when the car is warming up. When I'm at a light I can lightly pump the pedal and I can feel it get firmer if it's soft. It seems like a loss of pressure somewhere or moisture/air in the system. Any ideas? Sorry if I can't be more precise. My car has been on jackstands for over a week now. (waiting on shims for the new cams now). I searched before I posted, both shoforum, and delphi forum.

When you're at a light and you think you have the brake fully applied, can you continue to press the pedal further? If so, something's probably wrong with the master cylinder.

First step is to do a good brake line flushing. After completing I typically take my SHO out to a gravel road and do some harsh 30-0 stops to engage my ABS, as this forces air out of the system (via the fluid reservoir).

I would try these and let us know if you're still having a problem.
