I replaced the drivers rear caliper on my SHO about 10 minutes ago, and the piston won't stay out. I can pump the brake w/ or w/o the parking brake on and it doesn't make a difference. The pedal is as hard as a rock but when you go to look at the caliper it hasn't even made contact with the pads. If you pump the brake and get out you can see the piston slowly go back inside the caliper. Any idea what might cause this?? I tried bleeding the brakes but it just keeps going back inside the caliper.

What were the symptoms that led you to replace that caliper?

Were you planning to replace the brake lines or did you do them recently? Sounds like they are blocked if you are unable to bleed the brakes. Did any fluid flow out when you tried bleeding the brakes.

I have stainless line, I replaced the caliper because the original was having a similar issue. The lines have plenty of flow to be blocked, the fluid comes out no problem it is just the piston won't stay out.

If I could pump it enough to get the piston out, yes. Like even when the parking brake is applied at a strand still you still have side-to-side play with the caliper due to the piston not extending all the way.

I fixed the problem! I tried pushing the brakes with the engine on and the piston finally came out and is staying out. It might have been just from sitting on a shelf and it just needed to be broken in. Thanks zoomlater!!
