Is it an actual rubber part or are you talking about the textured thing that happens. If so, I haven't seen anything that works. You can sand and paint it but I think the damage to the material is not reversable (at least that I have witnessed in 25 yrs).
I never got around to it but I considered sanding and painting with sone uv type of protectant. My 2014 F150 has an even worse issue which is degrading door handles and seals that streak the blue paint with black garbage on all 4 doors
I body worked mine back to brand new...use glaze because the rubber has hardened and is deteriated so it will hold the glaze....just body work them and paint them...works like a champAnyone have a recommendation on what i can do here on the car. Its a rubber coating. I guess i can paint it but id rather it stay coated. Any ideas?

ratchet = looks like ****
I know you dont want to, but pull them out to do the work....trust me on this it will be worth the effort....I used chassis black semi-gloss for mine and it exactly matches the stock rubber trim pieces.I may try that here soon, im running out of ways to make it sorta oem. It will look better in black paint
Thanks. Its been covered up good and buried in a garage for over 2 years. Never got to fully assemble the interior yet or exterior bumpers and side skirts. It was my Covid project but then life got in the way again once i returned to work in person. Started and ran fine when i stored it. Actually tried to start it late last year but it would just crank and crank. I probably had the ground jumper on the wrong icm bolt, i think its the bottom 2 for ground. I may have had it on the top bolts last year and maybe thats why it didnt start. Usually i need a cord from icm bolt to battery negative for it to run. If i cant fix the earth, ill give it more earthJust found this searching for some other info. Gorgeous body work.
