Is it an actual rubber part or are you talking about the textured thing that happens. If so, I haven't seen anything that works. You can sand and paint it but I think the damage to the material is not reversable (at least that I have witnessed in 25 yrs).

Yea im not to sure what i will do, part of me wants to keep it the way it is as there is nothing than can be done correctly about it. I may paint it one day also.
Spending lots of time this week on wet sanding and clear coating all the lighting, foglights, corner lights, all of it. I doubt ill ever get out what i put in to it as most car restorations never do. So im going all out on it in every way possible

I never got around to it but I considered sanding and painting with sone uv type of protectant. My 2014 F150 has an even worse issue which is degrading door handles and seals that streak the blue paint with black garbage on all 4 doors

Yea i hate that about vehicles, if you want to keep it nice it might as well sit detailed in a garage forever. Using it deteriorates it everywhere. I hate having my 15 sho sitting outside even at work, id rather it just be in a garage 24/7 so it stays looking pretty for another 10 more years.

Then again the expensive 3m vinyl stripes i had installed right after purchase have held up really good. Still look as if i just installed them.

I body worked mine back to brand new...use glaze because the rubber has hardened and is deteriated so it will hold the glaze....just body work them and paint them...works like a champ

ignore my ratchet ass garage door, old pic and door has since been coated in lizard skin...lol

I know you dont want to, but pull them out to do the work....trust me on this it will be worth the effort....I used chassis black semi-gloss for mine and it exactly matches the stock rubber trim pieces.

Just found this searching for some other info. Gorgeous body work.
Thanks. Its been covered up good and buried in a garage for over 2 years. Never got to fully assemble the interior yet or exterior bumpers and side skirts. It was my Covid project but then life got in the way again once i returned to work in person. Started and ran fine when i stored it. Actually tried to start it late last year but it would just crank and crank. I probably had the ground jumper on the wrong icm bolt, i think its the bottom 2 for ground. I may have had it on the top bolts last year and maybe thats why it didnt start. Usually i need a cord from icm bolt to battery negative for it to run. If i cant fix the earth, ill give it more earth

Life has a habit of throwing up roadblocks for all of us. Still enjoyed the ride quite a bit and how you can find time to play with it again soon.

That is the sort of thing I dreamed of doing to my 90 but due to some life events it's going to be my daily for several years, so that is going to wait.
