The lower part of my SHO is covered in tar and other strange debris that just won't come off. I'm not too familiar with products that would remove this, but I bought some spray at the store that did absolutely nothing. I think this tar has been there quite a while. Can anybody give me some tips for removing this crud without destroying my paint more than it already is?

Edit: Oh yeah, it's White, so that just makes everything worse. :p

Try to contact Don M. at d.c.car care. He sells lots of products and probably knows more than most about this stuff. Check for a link at shoclub.com.

Blue Coral makes a wonderful bug and tar remover. It's a gel, wipes on easily and washes off nicely. Most auto parts stores carry it.

Another good product to use is Splatt Bug remover. It's a new product, or at least here it is. Nevermind the funny name...this stuff works great. It comes in a spray bottle. Spray it on and wipe it off or spray it off. Either way it works nicely. It's also paint/clearcoat safe and it won't strip wax off your car.

Here is what I would do. I would go to a body shop supply store and buy 1500 or 1000 grit compound and some wax applicators. Don't go anything below 1000 grit or you may scratch the paint.

Just put some compound on the pad, use some elbow grease and the Tar will lift right up. I do this every day at work for the tar that is not taken off by the orange Gel tar remover. Hope this helps
